[Dream Nurturing Fund] Connecting students’ summer dreams

“I have been dreaming of coming to the capital and visit Uncle Ho's Mausoleum”, “I want to try making pottery and learn about the culture of craft villages”… are the dreams of children being sponsored by SeABank’s Dream Nurturing Fund. In the hope of making the students’ childhood dreams come true, from July 3rd to 5th, 2024, the Dream Nurturing Fund organizes a Hanoi Capital and SeABank Head office summer tour for underprivileged students overcoming difficulties.

July is the summer break after a school year of working hard to learn useful knowledge. To reward students with excellent academic performance and deliver a meaningful extracurricular program to motivate children in the next school year, Ms. Le Thu Thuy - Chair of the Fund's Board Committee has initiated the summer program of “Visiting Hanoi capital and SeABank Head office (“HO”)” for Dream Nurturing’s outstanding students. The program has started since 2023 and has received enthusiastic response from students and their families.

In the morning of July 3rd, a total of 15 students from Vietnam’s Northern and Central regions, representing 200 Dream Nurturing students, arrived in Hanoi for an exciting 3D2N capital tour. In the hope of delivering a summer full of useful experiences for underprivileged students from Bac Giang, Quang Nam, Nam Dinh, etc., the Fund has carefully selected destinations, landmarks and prepared activities. Those are not only educational but also locally typical, thereby providing knowledge and soft skills training, building confidence for students.

The trip begins with Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and the historic Ba Dinh Square, where 14 out of 15 students visiting the mausoleum for the first time. Next destinations are Ho Chi Minh Museum, Quoc Tu Giam – the Temple of Literature, the Book Street, etc. Besides the iconic attractions of Hanoi, it’s the first time students had special experiences such as: taking metro at Cat Linh - Ha Dong - the first metro line in Vietnam; riding Hanoi sightseeing Double-decker bus to enjoy the whole capital view at night; visiting Lotte World Aquarium, etc

Notably, on July 4th, a group of Dream Nurturing students in Hanoi has joined the Northern and Central group to visit SeABank’s HO and meet some divisions including: Credit Approval, Treasury, and Human Resource Management & Development.

Here, students have excitedly visited HO for the first time and had intimate talk with the managers and employees of SeABank, who contribute significantly so that students could receive study encouragement scholarships regularly. In addition to the office tour and talk, students also had chance to learn about bankers’ work at SeABank, play games and receive practical gifts for new school year from Divisions of Credit Approval, Treasury, and Human Resources Management & Development.

A student named Dam Thi Yen Nhi (Da Nang), students’ representatives, has expressed her profound gratitude to Vice Chairwoman of the BOD Le Thu Thuy and all SeABankers, who have helped underprivileged students continue their academic dreams through the Dream Nurturing Fund: “I am very proud and honored to be the student representatives delivering our words of gratitude to the beloved SeABankers. During a long period, you all have been accompanying us, bringing positive emotions, strong sources of motivation for us to strive in our studies. More than just a simple meeting, this is an occasion for us to clearly feel your care and love. I wish you all good health to strive for the development of the Bank.”

With purposes of developing creative thinking, handcrafting skills for students, while enhancing their understandings of traditional values, particularly pottery and Vietnamese crafts, Chu Dau Ceramic is selected to be the last destination. Here, students were warmly welcomed by the staff, had chances to see the perfect handcrafted creations in special visual arts and to hand-paint on the ceramic works of skilled ceramists.

Student named Nguyen Minh Huy (Quang Nam) is one of the outstanding students in the 2023-2024 school year, who has won the Gold Medal for Biology in the Olympic competition, Second prize in the provincial competition for excellent students. He has expressed profound gratitude after the program: “The trip is a wonderful gift from uncles and aunts in SeABank. I am truly touched and very grateful. I feel lucky to be surrounded with kindness and loves from SeABank’s uncles and aunts. I promise to try harder in my studies so as not to let down everyone's expectations and efforts.”

Established in 2015, Dream Nurturing Fund operates with the aim of continuing academic dreams for underprivileged studious students. After 9 years, the Fund has supported 200 students to continue their studies via granting scholarships worth VND1 million/month/student until high school graduaion. By this year, a total of 40 students sponsored by the Fund have graduated from high school and continued higher education as desired. The Fund also rewards VND10 million of startup scholarships for each high school graduate, thereby supporting them with the first step in their future journey, contributing to the sustainable development of society.
